Job Description
Required Estimation Engineer
ESTIMATION DEPARTMENT
Key Responsibilities:
Lighting System Estimation:
Evaluate project plans, drawings, specifications, and site conditions to prepare accurate lighting system cost estimates.
Develop detailed lighting layout study , taking into consideration factors like alternatives , pricing , lighting codes, and client preferences.
Vendor Coordination:
Request and review quotes from suppliers and subcontractors for lighting fixtures, control systems, and related materials.
Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain the best pricing and ensure timely delivery of products.
Bid Preparation and Documentation:
Prepare and submit competitive bids for lighting installation and systems integration projects.
Ensure all estimates are clearly documented and supported with accurate technical data and assumptions.
Team Interaction:
Maintain clear communication with team to understand their requirements, provide project updates, and offer recommendations for cost-effective lighting solutions.
Work closely with project managers, electrical engineers, and designers to ensure the seamless integration of lighting systems into broader project designs.
Research and Development:
Stay up to date on the latest lighting technologies, products, and industry trends.
Recommend new lighting solutions, energy-efficient alternatives, and innovative technologies to enhance system performance and reduce costs.
Skills and Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Lighting Design, or a related field.
Additional certifications in estimating, electrical design, or energy-efficient lighting are a plus.
Experience:
3+ years of experience in lighting estimation, electrical engineering, or a similar field, preferably in construction or electrical contracting.
Experience with lighting design software (e.g., Dialux, Relux) is highly desirable.
Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of electrical systems, lighting technologies, and relevant codes (e.g., NEC, IES, ASHRAE).
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project), as well as estimation and project management software (e.g., Bluebeam, Procore, or similar tools).
Interpersonal Skills:
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner.
Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and external vendors.
Additional Qualities:
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Analytical mindset with the ability to assess cost-effective solutions.
Problem-solving abilities and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
Work Environment:
Office-based, with occasional site visits required for project assessments, coordination, and meetings with clients or contractors.
Some travel may be required depending on the project locations.
